Use this handy packing tool to help you organise your belongings and keep track of what you need to bring on your caravan holiday. Create separate lists for each member of your family as well as a checklist of caravan essentials. If you need inspiration, you can enter details about your group and the app will automatically generate a list for you, taking the weather and number of days into consideration. There are also sample packing lists for families and couples.

This navigation app has been designed specifically for caravan users and has a number of helpful features for people towing larger vehicles. It can be used offline so you don’t have to worry about data connection and plots the best route depending on your caravan’s height, weight and length. Other features include, lane indicator arrows, voice guidance and real time traffic updates.

Motorway Services GB

The Motorway Services GB app contains an interactive map with details of services stations across England. This will help you plan your journey and decide where to stop en-route to you chosen caravan site. Within the app you can see what facilities a service station has – including operators, fuel, food and drink options and shops.

Antenna Aligner App

Set your TV up in no time at all with the Antenna Aligner App. This handy tool will take the guess work out of aligning your Freeview aerial by showing you which direction to point it to ensure you have the best signal strength. With just one click it will tell you which channels to focus on while tuning based on your location. The app supports all Freeview transmitters in the UK and Ireland.

Caravan Level – with Speech

The Caravan Level app has been specially designed for caravans, motorhomes and campervans. It boasts an audio feature, which means the app will ‘tell’ you how many degrees, dimensions or blocks your caravan is out. This will allow you to walk around your vehicle and make adjustments as necessary. The app will let you know when it’s all level. It can be used on its own with the caravan doors open or with a Bluetooth headset or earphones.

SuperCook

Free

SuperCook is an excellent app if you’re stuck in a rut of cooking the same things time and time again. Simply enter the ingredients you have to hand and the app will return a list of delicious recipes you can try out. This is fantastic for caravaners, who don’t have a store cupboard filled with staples to fall back on. You never know, you might discover some new favourites!

Geocaching

Free – £24.99 (annual subscription)

Geocaching is great fun for all the family and the perfect activity to try during your caravan holiday in Lancashire. Use the Geocaching app to find ‘treasure’, known as ‘caches’ that have been hidden by users, in interesting locations across the world.

There are thousands to discover across the North West, with some not far from our park. Children will love using clues within the app to find the caches during a walk.

SkyView Lite

Free

The Forest of Bowland has official Dark Sky Discovery Status and is a popular stargazing destination. On clear nights it is possible to see a variety of constellations and many planets are visible at certain times of year. To the untrained eye it can be difficult to know where and when to go and what you’re looking at, so it may be advisable to download an app before heading out.

The SkyView app is really handy and has plenty of features that even complete novices can enjoy. It’s an excellent tool for learning more about space and is suited to children as well as adults. Simply point your phone to the sky and aim it any stars you would like to know more about. The app will give you more information on galaxies, stars and satellites passing over your location.

Ordinance Survey Maps

Spend some time exploring the great outdoors during your touring or motorhome holiday at Moss Wood Caravan Park. The region is the ideal destination for a walking holiday, with plenty of scenic routes to explore through the Lancashire Countryside along the Fylde Coast. There are plenty of signposted routes to follow, but you may wish to purchase some quality maps to explore lesser-known routes throughout the North West.

Ordinance Survey have an excellent app, which provides users with access to a range of maps. This will allow you to plot, record and follow routes on your mobile device. There is a free and Pro version available, depending on your needs.

Birds of Britain Pro

Caravan holidays provide plenty of time for wildlife watching, so we think it’s essential to have a comprehensive wildlife guide to help you identify any species you’re lucky enough to spot. The Birds of Britain Pro app is one of the best on the market, containing an in-depth description and photographs of more than 300 British birds. The app contains annotated images to highlight key distinguishing features as well as recordings of calls to help you identify birds you can hear!

This is a great tool to use while exploring the nature Trail and woodland walk at Moss Wood or venturing to some of the excellent nature reserves nearby.

If you plan on visiting the Lake District during your stay, we recommend downloading our sister holiday park’s app. The Skelwith Fold Advantage app is packed full of things to see and do in The Lake District – it’s like having a tourist information centre in your pocket!

Moss Wood Caravan Park is situated in an idyllic location, surrounded by Lancashire countryside and close to the Fylde Coast. It’s a fantastic base from which to explore towns and cities throughout the North West, including Lancaster, Fleet Wood, Blackpool and Cleveleys.

Based just around the corner from Moss Wood, on Moss Edge Farm in Cockerham, Farm Yard Ales was started by Steven in October 2017. The farm has been in Steven’s family for five generations, but in the twenty-first century diversification is very much the name of the game. But what an outstanding way to do it!

A real passion for craft ale shows in the fantastic beers of all descriptions being produced, from some wonderfully creative specials like ‘Easy Tiger’ and ‘Sour Plower’ to our own brand Wild Ale and Wild Pilsner! We’ve watched as Farm Yard Ales have started to appear in local pubs spreading out from Cockerham as people discover their great creations. Of course, you don’t have to go too far to try it – we sell a selection of the range in the on-site shop here at Moss Wood.

There is one place above all others to go to really get into the spirit of Farm Yard Ales however – Farm Yard Ales itself! Above the vats where the various ales are brewed, they have their very own Tap Room which is open at the weekends (Thursday and Friday evenings, Saturday and Sunday, plus bank holiday Mondays). The Tap Room is the closest bar to Moss Wood – and is always very popular with the people staying on the park with us (and the staff!).

It is with all of this in mind that we introduced Wild Traditional Golden Ale – own our real ale. Brewed by our neighbours at Farm Yard Ales, we are proud to be supporting local businesses in our community. Of course, it helps that they produce the most fantastic real ale!

This means that our Wild Ale is produced less than a mile from the park, from crops grown in the fields surrounding us – and possibly pollinated by the bees in the hives kept on our growing nature reserve. It doesn’t get much better than that! As an extra little thank you to the bees which helped make the beer, we also donate a penny from every pint to bumblebee conservation.

If you’d like to try some of our amber nectar, you can claim a complimentary bottle at Moss Wood. You simply have to pay us a visit and use the opportunity to have a peek in some of the newest static caravan holiday homes we have on site. This giveaway continues every Saturday until the end of August 2018 – so don’t miss out!
