Some of the best walks in Lancashire can be found around Cockerham, a picturesque village just two miles from Moss Wood Caravan Park. To help you see the best of the region – from historic abbeys to breathtaking coastline – we’ve rounded up five of the best.
Moss Wood is a touring caravan site near Lancaster and the perfect base from which to enjoy scenic walks nearby. There are numerous trails and paths throughout the county, some of which can be accessed from the grounds of our holiday park. We highly recommend taking some time to go for a walk during your stay with us, whether it be a short leisurely stroll with the kids or an extended hike!
Cockerham and Lancaster Canal
Enjoy a gentle stroll through the village centre, over fields and along the Lancaster Canal. Enjoy views over the magnificent Ellel Grange and Haycarr houses along the way.
An easy walk along the sands from Cokeham to Glasson Dock, passing through the ruins of Cockersand Abbey before returning via the Lancaster Canal.
Cockerham to Pilling Coastal
A coastal walk with great views out to sea. This walk takes an easy route west, ending up in Pilling, which is next to Ladies Hill.
Cockerham to Scorton Village
This inland walk will take you to the village of Scorton, where you can stop off at the Barn for tea and cake. If you’re feeling really adventurous, you can always keep walking to the fell of of Nicky Nook for some great views.
Cockerham to Garstang
Another great walk from Cockerham will take you to the town of Garstang, with its great architecture, weekly market and frequent festivals to entertain you upon arrival.
