Whether you’re an avid hiker or just fancy a leisurely stroll, you’ll be spoilt for choice when deciding where to go. Walking is a fantastic way to explore the Lancashire countryside and the beauty spots surrounding our park. Below we’ve listed some of our favourite walks to enjoy during a stay at our caravan and holiday home park. We’re sure you’ll have a lovely time and will want to return to our park for a walking holiday year on year.
Lancashire Coastal Way
The Lancashire Coastal Way is one of the top walks in the North West. The route stretches 137 miles along the Ribble Estuary from Preston to its terminus at the Cumbrian border. It passes close to Moss Wood near the mid point and is typically completed in smaller, more manageable sections.
The route is popular with avid walkers and nature enthusiasts thanks to the abundant wildlife that can be found along the way. Rare species of birds can often be seen as well as migrating species stopping for a well earned break.
Woodland walk
Guests visiting Moss Wood for a walking holiday should take some time to complete the woodland walk on the outskirts of our site. We think it’s one of the best woodland walks in Lancashire, thanks to the mature trees and abundant wildlife. In the spring the forest floor is carpeted with stunning bluebells and in the autumn it turns beautiful shades of orange and brown.
During the walk you can enjoy peace and quiet and escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled as you make your way along the path as previous guests have been lucky enough to spot bats, deer and even a red squirrel! The walk is only short at around half a kilometre in length, but it’s ideal for guests who don’t want to travel far or simply want to take the dog for a quick walk.
Walking holiday facilities
