Things to do in Poulton-le-Fylde

Exploring Poulton

Poulton-le-Fylde, or Poulton as it’s known by locals is a historic market town with a bustling town centre. It is situated within easy reach of our Lancaster Holiday Park and just a short drive from other attractions along the Fylde Coast.

Rich and interesting history

Step back in time and discover Poulton’s rich history at the Market Place. Here you will find the Market Cross, whipping Post, stocks and fish slab, which date back to the 18th century. St Chads Church is in the centre of town. This beautiful place of worship is open daily, with a Sunday service should you wish to attend. It is famed locally for the purple and orange Crocus’s that carpet the grounds each spring. March is the best time to pay a visit to see flowers in bloom.

Shopping

If you plan on doing a bit of shopping during your stay at Moss Wood Caravan Park, Poulton-le-Fylde has plenty to offer. A wide selection shops line the cobbled streets, with a fantastic mix of independent boutiques and national chains to peruse.

In addition to a well-served high street, Poulton has an indoor shopping mall. The Teanlowe Shopping Centre recently underwent major refurbishment and now boasts an inviting and modern interior, which is the ideal place to spend a rainy afternoon.

Every Monday market square comes alive with traders selling their wares. The stalls contain an interesting mix of items for sale, including locally grown fruit and vegetables, plants, confectionary and gifts. The historic outdoor market was revived in 2011 and has been a popular attraction ever since. Each week you’ll find locals and visitors enjoying the hustle and bustle as they try to bag a bargain to take home!

Parks

Once you’ve finished shopping, we encourage you to take some time out and relax in one of the pretty parks. Vicarage Park is just a short walk from the town centre and has a lovely seating area to relax and unwind. Jean Stansfield Memorial Park can be found next door and boasts a playground and skate park for younger members of the family. There’s also a hard standing games area and a bowling green.
