Clitheroe Castle
Clitheroe Castle occupies an elevated position offering panoramic views of the town and Ribble Valley. It is thought to be the smallest Norman keep in England and dates back to the early 12th century. The castle is home to a popular museum, which houses a range of exhibits showcasing local history with stories of the various industries that have taken place over the years. The grounds are open to the public and there are 16 acres of landscaped gardens to discover. Entrance to the castle grounds is free.
Children can burn off some steam in the outdoor adventure playground or hone their skills in the skatepark. Those wanting something a bit more sedate can watch the world go by from the bandstand or admire the beautiful sculptures that sit within the rose garden.
