Discover the wildlife found all over the park at Moss Wood
Visitors often tell us that their favourite thing about Moss Wood is our beautiful location. Our Lancashire caravan park is surrounded by countryside and boasts an abundance of trees, plants and flowers. Thanks to the wide variety of flora and fauna on site, Moss Wood Caravan park has a range of habitats, which enable local wildlife to thrive. We’re extremely fortunate to have a wide variety of birds and insects on site, which you can discover for yourself by taking park in our Nature Trail!
Moss Wood Nature Trail
Running for approximately 1.5 miles around the park, the Moss Wood Nature Trail stops at a range of different habitats located throughout the park. Along the route you will find information boards describing some of the birds, animals, insects and plants that you might expect to find nearby. Bring your binoculars to help with your sightings and a pen to mark the species you spot off our guide, which you can pick up free of charge from reception.
If you’re a keen photographer make sure you pack your camera to capture your sightings. You may be lucky enough to spot a red squirrel! If you send us five photos of the wildlife you spot on park, you’ll receive a free, exclusive Moss Wood tea towel*.
Fun for all the family
The nature trail at Moss Wood Caravan Park is great fun for all the family. Children will love having the freedom to explore various areas of the site, searching high and low to catch a glimpse at the nature that calls Moss Wood home. Equally, the nature trail is the ideal way for couples to spend a leisurely afternoon in the great outdoors.
Caring for the environment
At Moss Wood Caravan Park we do our upmost to care for our natural environment. We are continually experimenting with new ideas to encourage wildlife and educate visitors about the various species we have on site. Our hard work and commitment to conservation has been recognised at the Lancashire Tourism Awards. We have been finalists for the Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Award for seven of the last eight years – and we were winners in this category in 2019 and 2023!
