Static caravan ownership continues to rise, but unfortunately so do myths and preconceptions. If you’re thinking about investing in a holiday home and want to simplify the decision making process, then dispelling static caravan myths is a great way to start – and we’re here to do just that.
Myth: “There are lots of hidden costs”

At Moss Wood, we have two outdoor adventure playgrounds and a private fishing lake which is certain to provide entertainment for the whole family. There is only one way in and our of the park and a strict 5mph speed limit, so children can safely explore the park on bicycles or scooters! We also have a large recreational field on site, where your family can play games, fly kites and let off some steam!

If a person says that holiday home beds are uncomfortable, their opinion is probably based off of an experience with dated hire accommodation. At Moss Wood, we don’t do comfort in half measures. Here, in all of our static caravans we provide well-sprung, comfy beds that you’ll look forward to sinking into and taking the weight off after a long day of exploring the beautiful local area.
Unlike with some holiday parks, you’ll find the nighttimes to be quiet and peaceful. Where we don’t hire out caravans for short holidays – all of our holiday homes are privately owned. You’ll find our long term guests to be respectful of noise etiquette after dark.
Myth: “There isn’t a lot to do, so you’ll get bored”
A common misconception about caravan parks is that there isn’t much to do. With caravan holidays becoming so popular, parks across the UK are more accommodating than ever – offering more facilities and things to do in and around parks. Myth: “You’ll only have access to limited cooking facilities”
Again, this couldn’t be further from the truth! Long gone are the days of just having a microwave to use to heat food in holiday homes. All of our static caravans are dog friendly – so you can treat your four-legged friend to regular breaks away. Our well-connected location, walks and open space on-site make us one of the best caravan parks to bring dogs to. We have a number of dog friendly facilities, including refreshment points, poo bins and of course the 4-acre recreational field.
Away from the park, you’ll find many dog friendly pubs in Lancashire, walks, as well as beaches that accept four legged friends.
Myth: “Static caravans have a poor build quality”
Although this might have been the case many years ago, contemporary static caravans are fitted to a high standard and have a very good build quality. Gone are the days of getting chilly in the winter and burning up in the summer – today’s caravan holiday homes are better insulated to adapt to climates and feature double glazing as standard.
