Paddleboarding on the canal is a great way to experience the city from a unique perspective.  The canal connects Preston to Kendal, and as you make your way along the waterway, you’ll be treated to breath-taking views of the Forest of Bowland and the Silverdale Coast. Glasson Dock is a charming village situated on the picturesque coast, and only a short drive from our caravan park. The dock is the perfect destination for those who love paddleboarding, and you can even paddle up to Lancaster Canal from here. It’s worth noting that you don’t need a permit to paddle on the dock itself, but if you plan to take your SUP on the canal, you’ll need a Waterways license too. Glasson Dock is not only an excellent place for water sports, but it’s also a great spot for a leisurely stroll or a picnic on the grassy banks. So, why not consider spending a day out in this quaint town?

Heysham to Morecambe Bay

Morecambe Bay is one of the most beautiful coastal areas in the UK, offering a vast expanse of water that stretches along the coast from Lancaster to Barrow-in-Furness. There are many water-based activities to enjoy in Morecambe Bay, including paddleboarding which offers a great experience and boasts stunning views of the coastline and even the Lake District in the distance. If you want to immerse yourself in the tranquil waters and enjoy the peace and beauty of the landscape, we suggest you start from Heysham to the bay.

Arnside is nestled on the edge of the Lake District and is situated on the banks of the River Kent, which ultimately flows into the vast Morecambe Bay. Paddleboarding on the River Kent is an excellent way to discover the beautiful countryside surrounding Arnside. Paddleboarders can take in the picturesque views of the Lake District, including the neighbouring hills and mountains. The river is also relatively shallow, making it a safe and comfortable environment for beginners and experienced paddlers alike. If you’re interested in trying out stand-up paddle boarding but don’t know where to start, checking out Arnside Sailing Club could be a great idea. They offer lessons for beginners, so you can learn the basics of the watersport in a supportive environment.
