Moss Wood Recognised at Lancashire Tourism Awards 2022

We were delighted to see Moss Wood recognised as one of the region’s leading socially and environmentally responsible tourism businesses at the Lancashire Tourism Awards 2022.
Moss Wood Caravan Park, based in Cockerham near Lancaster, was named among the top performers in the Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism category.
The awards returned in February 2022 following a two-year break, bringing together more than 400 representatives from the tourism industry at a ceremony in Blackburn.
Recognised for Sustainability
Moss Wood was recognised for our longstanding commitment to putting sustainability and care for the countryside at the heart of the park.
We encourage both our holiday guests and members of the local community, especially children, to engage with nature, discover the wildlife around them and understand the importance of protecting it.
Henry Wild, whose family has owned Moss Wood for more than 50 years, said everyone at the park was delighted to see this work recognised:

“Their knowledge and skills mean we are never short of new ideas for safeguarding wildlife, and for helping youngsters to enjoy making new outdoor discoveries.

Supporting Wildlife at Moss Wood
Our commitment to conservation goes back many years. Moss Wood has previously received the David Bellamy Conservation Award at its highest gold level for more than 20 consecutive years, recognising the range of conservation initiatives around the park.
These include our 1.5km nature discovery trail and a 3,000 sq ft wildflower meadow, which provides valuable food sources for honey bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
Our spring-fed lake also provides an important habitat for birdlife, dragonflies, waterfowl and a wide variety of aquatic species.
A Haven for Bees and Other Wildlife
Moss Wood is also home to thousands of honey bees living in hives within the park grounds.
Our support for bees has extended beyond the park too, with proceeds from our own artisan beer, produced by a local microbrewery, helping to support beekeeping charities.
We were incredibly proud to see our approach to sustainability and conservation recognised at the Lancashire Tourism Awards, particularly as caring for the countryside around Moss Wood has been an important part of the park for generations.
