Things to do in Lancaster
Museums
Lancaster is best known for its rich and varied history. It played an important role in War of the Roses and the infamous Pendle Witch Trials. Given its involvement in some of the Britains most important historical events, it is perhaps unsurprising that there are a wide selection of museums and historic attractions across the city. Lancaster City Museum, Judges Lodges Museum and Lancaster Maritime Museum are all well worth a visit during your stay.
Alternatively, you could follow the Lancaster Heritage Walking Trail to take in some of the most historic sites on foot. The 3 mile route incorporates some of the city’s best known buildings, including Lancaster Castle, the Roman Bath House, Millennium Bridge, Dalton Square, Horseshoe Corner and Market Square.
Lancaster Castle
No trip to Lancaster is complete without paying a visit to Lancaster Castle. This is one of the most captivating historical landmarks in the country with lot’s to keep all ages entertained. Take a guided tour of the castle courtyards and hear stories about it’s inhabitants over the years. The friendly and knowledgeable guides will help bring history to life as you explore the pretty grounds.
Boat Trips
If history is not your thing, there’s no need to worry – there are plenty of other attractions to visit. We highly recommend a leisurely steam on one of the scenic boat trips along the canal. This is a fantastic way to admire the surroundings and snap a picture or two. Some of the trips even offer cream tea and drinks, so you can really relax and unwind.
Williamson Park and the Butterfly House are another of our favourite spots. From here you can enjoy far-reaching views across the city and a number of leisurely walks.
Shopping
The city also boasts a fantastic selection of shops, including independent boutiques as well as national chain stores. There are plenty of places to treat yourself to a souvenir to commemorate the visit.
Moss Wood Caravan Park
Our family friendly holiday park has won numerous awards over the years. We’re situated in a convenient location, just 15 minutes drive from the Lancaster and within easy reach of beauty spots along the Fylde Coast.
Moss Woods’s idyllic location makes it a favourite among couples and families hoping to spend time in the great outdoors. Our park has a wide selection of facilities including children’s play parks, a well-stocked shop and coarse fishing lake. There’s also a nature trail and woodland walk to explore.
Touring Pitches
We have 31 spacious touring pitches for caravans, motorhomes and campervans. All have a private grass surrounds and come equipped with water drainage and electric hook up.
