The Birds and The Bees
25th September 2016
At Moss Wood Caravan Park near Lancaster, we make a big deal of the environment. We work hard on conservation and sustainability around the park and always try to find new ways to run with minimum impact on the world around us. This includes creating habitats to encourage various species of wildlife to thrive, as well as hosting informative evenings for our holiday home owners and touring guests to help educate them on the parks lesser known residents!
We have hosted a number of events for our guests, including a bat walk around the parks grounds. We have also developed specific areas of the park for the benefit of local wildlife. For instance, the nature trail, fishing lake and woodland walk provide fantastic habitats, where birds, bees, insects and even badgers, deers and foxes can thrive.
Bee survey
This year we have been carrying out a bee survey and reporting back to a national body helping to monitor these important little creatures. We’ve been fortunate to spot plenty of bees around the site, which is a great indicator that our careful landscaping efforts are working!
Next year we will be starting something more ambitious which we hope you might be able to help us with – aninteractive Wildlife Survey. Expect to hear more about this soon, but we are hoping together we can find out exactly what wildlife is right here on our doorstep!
